Kamusi Project International (KPI) is an independent non-profit, tax-exempt, non-governmental organization registered in the Canton of Geneva, Switzerland. KPI is responsible for all activities associated with the Kamusi Project worldwide, except for the United States. Activities include international fundraising and expenditures, and project development that occurs or originates in Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, or any country in the Americas other than the United States.

Kamusi Project International is affiliated with Kamusi Project USA (KPUSA), an independent non-profit, tax-exempt, non-governmental organization registered in the US State of Delaware. In accordance with the statutes of KPI, KPUSA is recognized as the United States chapter of the Kamusi Project, and is eligible to nominate one member to the KPI General Assembly. KPI and KPUSA work closely together on the development of the Kamusi Project educational website, other resources for African languages, and additional activities including fundraising and membership recruitment. The two organizations are nevertheless separate legal entitites that operate independently of each other according to the laws of the Switzerland and the United States.

Residents any country except for the United States who wish to join or donate to the Kamusi Project must do so through this website, kamusi.ch, including US citizens using an address outside of the United States. Residents of the United States, including non-citizens using an address within the United States, must use the Kamusi Project USA website, kamusiproject.us, to join or donate.
